“Paul's Big Radio have smoothed and refined their sound a bit for the group's sophomore release, Pavement Bliss, but not at the expense of the songs, which shine here with a beautiful clarity. The opener, "Disco Angel," is a perfectly balanced country-rocker that feels a little bit like a lost Rolling Stones gem circa Exile on Main St., a feeling that isn't broken by the second track, the haunting "Gift Horses." This is the kind of thing Gram Parsons had always dreamed of, a seamless mix of country, soul, and rock & roll that he termed "Cosmic American Music," and here Paul's Big Radio do exactly that. On "Confession #1," a beautiful, halting, and redemptive ballad, lead singer and main songwriter Paul Lippens even manages to echo the feel of one of Parsons' "Hot Burrito" songs, and the track emerges as the emotional centerpiece of this fine set. Co-produced by Lippens and Jim Roll, Pavement Bliss would have made Parsons proud.“
